Yes, I would be very curious about the forest though Natalie Babbit makes a good point about how if you own something it is less interesting than if you don't own it. That is a lot like when you are told not to do something or told there is something you can't have you immediately want to know why you can't do/have that thing. I think forests are very intriguing and fascinating places an I would love to explore a wood, whether or not I owned it. Although, I have never owned a wood and couldn't prove that I would explore it even if I owned it. (May the pastry be with you!)
I think Winnie Foster doesn't and that's why she thinks about running away and I also think that she will be a more ethical and virtuous main character I also have seen part of the movie many years ago with a friend. But I don't remember much. And you haven't even heard about the Fosters other than Winnie yet so don't go making any assumptions.
I would die of curiosity. The way she described it seemed so interesting to me. I really like how she describes the woods in these quotes, "And what is interesting, anyway, about a slim few acres of trees? There will be a dimness shot through with bars of sunlight, a great many squirrels and birds, a deep, damp mattress of leaves on the ground, and all the other things just as familiar if not so pleasant-things like spiders, thorns and grubs." and this quote, "The people would have noticed the giant ash tree at the center of the wood, and then, in time, they'd have noticed the little spring bubbling up among its roots in spite of the pebbles piles there to conceal it"
I agree with many of you, when you own something it just seems less appealing for some reason. If I owned the woods I bet the first time I went in and explored would be SO EXCITING, but after a few times it would probably get boring. What SHOCKS me is that the Fosters have no interest in even exploring it once!
I think the Fosters are not too curious about the woods because they own them, and like the book said nothing looks interesting if you own it. Also the woods have a "don't disturb me" or "other-worldly" appearance.
I would be exited to go into the forest especially that I now that there is a spring that could cause "such a great disaster that the earth would wobble on it's axis like a beetle on a pin."( I am exited to explore any forest though). I love venturing! Aka I would die of curiosity.
I actually dont agree with you guys. like, it makes sense that if you own something you dont care about it as much, but personally i think that the way that winnie was taught to live it doesnt sound like her parents are outdoor people. so they just dont care. and winnie grew up, and, seeing that her parents were not interested in the wood, she took their example and did not care either. but it is a very good thing that they didnt go to the wood, and if they did they would find the spring which, let me tell you guys who dont know what it does yet, will be very bad for them and they would tell the whole world, get rich, and people would be fighting and killing to get to it.
great that is nice. guys just something to keep in mind; dont skip the longer comments, because if it was said aloud it would be about like 4 sentences long. but written down it just looks really long, but its not and those comments are usually very descriptive and interesting
